Perfect First Dance Songs

If you’re looking for a break from all of the same song recommendations for your wedding, you’ve come to the right place. All January long, we’re listing our favorite classics, newest favorites, and most unique songs that will be the perfect fit for every phase of your wedding. This week: First Dance Songs!

Traditional First Dance Songs

Sometimes, the classics just call to you. But just because you have traditional tastes doesn’t mean you need to go with a basic or overplayed 1st dance song. Refresh your favorite classic songs by finding modern covers like “Just The Two of Us” sung by Kauai45 and Sweet Coco. Covers like these breathe new life into your favorite songs and are the perfect way to make an old standard unique for you and your partner.

Modern First Dance Songs

The most expected contemporary songs at weddings these days include Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” or “Lover” by Taylor Swift. Both of those are beautiful songs, but still a bit over done. Instead of going with the expected, try “River” by Leon Bridges or “Carry You” by The Teskey Brothers. These songs will give you a similar romantic vibe while making your first dance stand out from the crowd.

Unique First Dance Song

We know it sounds out there, but there are a lot of “unique” songs out there that are super basic. For example, “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri used to stand out at weddings. Now, it’s just as overplayed as every other basic song we listed. Give the Twilight soundtrack a break and try “Never Stop” (Wedding Version) by Safetysuit instead.

Wedding Ceremony Song Inspiration

All January long, we’re listing our favorite songs that will perfectly fit every phase of your wedding. This week: ceremony song inspiration!

Traditional

There are ENDLESS classical songs that will give you a traditional feeling on your walk down the aisle. So instead of having the same old “Wedding March” played on your big day, look for other classical music pieces.

If you want to keep it simple, an easy classic is “Canon in D Major” by Johann Pachelbel. If you want to branch out to other, lesser-played, classical pieces try “Air on the G String” by Bach or Chopin’s “Piano Concerto No. 1”. These soaring arrangements are guaranteed to add drama to your procession and make you feel like a princess on your wedding day.

Modern

Also, a great way to modernize your procession is to take a classic song and choose a cover. Some contemporary songs that will have your guests swooning on your way down the aisle include Ellie Goulding’s cover of “Your Song” and “Speechless” by local artists Dan + Shay.

Unique

Maybe your goal for your ceremony song is finding a song no one else you know has walked down the aisle to before. For that, you need to think outside of the box a little more.

Again, one of the easiest ways to use a cover of a classic that takes the song in a whole new direction. For example Kina Grannis’ cover of “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” Another great one is this instrumental cover of The Temptation’s “My Girl by the Stringspace String Quartet. Look into contemporary orchestras with modern pieces too like Penguin Cafe Orchestra’s “Perpetuum Mobile.”

How To Be a Great Wedding Guest

For the past few weeks, we’ve told you about the best practices for wedding guests. We also laid out some common unspoken guest etiquette rules. This week, we’re letting you in on some tips on how to be a great guest when dinner is served!

No Last Minute Plus Ones

This one might seem like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised just how many guests feel entitled enough to bring a surprise plus one. It should go without saying, but the engaged couple that invited you to their wedding probably has a tight budget. Catering is one of the most expensive elements of a wedding. That extra head was not accounted for and bringing them will only lead to the awkward situation of the catering team trying to scrounge up another plate, or your newlywed friends getting billed extra for that plate.

Note Food Restrictions

Nowadays, it’s easier than ever to get your dietary needs met at restaurants. However, it is not in anyone’s best interest to assume that if you don’t note your dietary restrictions ahead of time that they’ll have something you’ll be able to eat. Even if you know that the couple knows that you are vegan or allergic to shellfish doesn’t mean they’ll inform the caterer. They have so many things to worry about in their wedding planning journey that they’ll probably forget that you went pescatarian two months ago. So make sure to note on your RSVP your accurate dietary restrictions.

Stay Out of the Way

And last, but certainly not least, when in doubt, just wait. Have patience with the caterer and waitstaff. If you have a dietary restriction, just let one of them know as soon as one is free. Odds are, if they can, they will try to accommodate you to the best of their ability. So whatever you do, the more you stay out of the way, the faster they will be able to get done what they are doing and help you.

Weddings are supposed to be fun. So, kick back, relax and let the vendors do their jobs.

Unspoken Wedding Guest Etiquette Part 2

Last week, we discussed the importance of being aware of yourself, your actions, and your surroundings when you are a wedding guest. That way, you don’t accidentally make the photographer or videographer’s job harder. Sometimes these blunders are accidental. Other times you might not even be aware that these are wedding faux pas. This week, we’re letting you in on some of the things wedding guests do to DJs that hinder their ability to emcee.

Don’t Do This:

Sometimes, at fun events like weddings, you can easily get lost in the good vibes (and drinks) and forget that you’re still required to have manners with the people around you. This includes the wedding vendors!

So please, don’t tell the DJ to skip a song as soon as it starts. You don’t know who could have requested that song, and it might be an incredibly special one to them. If you make a request and your song isn’t played immediately, don’t get an attitude. The DJ is in charge of keeping the energy flowing. Your song might not be the right one for the energy of the crowd at the time.

And please — just because you amateur DJ or are interested in the setup, do not touch any of the equipment.

Do This Instead:

If you’re having a problem with the music, take a break from the dancefloor! Instead of dancing, take that time to run to the bathroom, freshen up your drink, or get to know the people around you. Whatever you do, don’t be a bully — to the DJ or to anyone else. This is a special night for your loved ones, and your yelling at the DJ to play the song you requested will really kill the vibe.

Don’t Have A Private Final Dance

Wenning Entertainment has been in the wedding industry for nearly 30 years now. Because of this experience, we know when something is a fun trend to include in your wedding, or if it will do more harm than good. The latest fad of having a private final dance falls into the latter category.

A Private Final Dance

This year, couples all over the internet have decided they will close the night of their wedding with a final private dance. This follows the growing trend of incorporating more small, intimate moments with your new spouse throughout the event. In this vein, we have also seen the first look, private first dances, and couples scheduling time between the ceremony and reception to have a quiet moment alone.

Those are all sweet additions to your big day if you want a moment’s piece with your new spouse on that busy, hectic day. However, a final private dance is not the way to do that successfully.

Don’t Hold People Hostage

Question for those considering having a private final dance: have you ever stayed until the end of a wedding?

Most venues have a time limit for how late you can stay. Wrangling and ushering everyone out of the venue in the first place is a challenge. Also, your servers and bussers need to start clean-up right after everyone leaves. Then, whatever entertainment you have will need to teardown and pack up their equipment.

In addition to all of that, you may want to keep the party going at an after-party with your guests that have stayed. Have your intimate private moment earlier in the night so that you don’t kill the vibe at the end and hold up your vendors from doing their jobs.

Wedding Expo Show Do’s and Don’ts

Are you going to a wedding expo or thinking about attending one but feeling a little overwhelmed. Wenning Entertainment is here to give you the dos and don’ts of wedding expo shows.

Don’t Come Unorganized

You will get a lot of information when your walk through an expo show. From pamphlets to leaflets, you’ll need at least a folder. Also, you’re going to put your information down a lot. From contests to mailing lists, to make that process easy and quick, make labels with your information. The less organized you come, the more stressful and less fun the event will be.

Don’t Be Shy

Bridal expo shows are not the time to be bashful. When approaching a booth, don’t just take some of their literature and move on to the next. Engage with the people at the booths. Be open to talking. These people are the experts and have done countless weddings before. Take advantage of their expertise and ask questions!

Don’t Go Alone

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: if this is your first time at a wedding expo show, you might get overwhelmed. Bring your fiancee or maid of honor/best man with you. Or bring your parents! They might even provide some insight and wisdom from their own weddings. Your guests can help you make decisions about which services you want and which company you want them from. It’s also always helpful to have another person who can come up with some good questions or point out booths that you might have missed.

Wedding Expos: Which Booths Are Worth Your Time

Wedding expos are huge conventions centered around one of the most fun (and stressful) events you’ll ever plan. The great part of these shows is that there are more vendors than anywhere else, so it could be your one-stop shop for all things wedding related. But, not everyone has a full day available to casually stroll through the rows and rows of booths. If you don’t have a lot of time to walk all over the exhibition hall, here are some tips on deciding which booths are worth your time visiting.

Refer to Your Budget at Wedding Expos

In last week’s blog, we told you about the importance of finalizing your budget before you get to wedding expos. This is where establishing that framework will be the most helpful. You should know by now which vendors are on your must-have list. At Wenning Entertainment, we recommend your entertainment, food, and drinks as some of the most important elements of your wedding you don’t want to cheap out on.

Prioritize those booths if you don’t have a lot of time to make sure you get the information you need. Make sure you keep the information from the booths that stuck out to you in a separate pocket or folder than the others.

Don’t Box Yourself In Too Much

Even though you should always keep your budget in mind, if you do have the time, widen your search. Yes, wedding expos are about planning, but you should have fun too. Look at those booths you might not be planning to buy from for inspiration!

Prepare for Your First Wedding Expo

One of the best parts about attending a wedding expo show is that it’s for those newly engaged couples in the early stages of the planning process. That means you don’t have to have a hardcore game plan for anything yet! That being said, it is still a good idea to prepare a basic framework of what you are looking for.

How to Prepare

The most important thing you walk into a wedding expo show with is a finalized budget. There will be so many great vendors to meet, and it’s fun to talk to all of them, but odds are some that you love will not be in your price range. Rather than spending all of your time at the most expensive booths, take a look around and find the ones that fit your budget.

It’s also a great idea to create a list of must-haves and could-live-withouts. Most couples do not have the budget to get every element of their wedding provided for them by vendors. So make a list of must-have vendors, like your entertainment, catering, and photographers. And make a list of vendors that would be nice to have, but you can live without (we’re looking at you, fancy table arrangement booth).

And make sure you bring a folder. These booths will give out a lot of informational pamphlets and booklets. This information will be extremely valuable to you and your partner when sitting down to decide what styles of vendors you prefer to keep it all organized. For even further organization, have one side of the folder for the vendors that really stood out to you and the other side for the rest. There will be so much going on, and you won’t remember every detail so it’s helpful to keep the standouts separate.

Preparing for Your First Wedding Expo

One of the coolest parts of your wedding planning process is going to all those cool wedding places you’ve always heard about but never been to. Wedding expo shows are one of these places. But, these shows can be overwhelming if you’ve never been to one before. And it’s helpful to know someone who’s been to one before. Preparing for your first wedding expo can seem like a challenge. That’s why this month, we give you our best wedding expo show tips and tricks. We will make sure you get the most out of your time.

What is a Wedding Expo Show?

A wedding expo is mainly for newly engaged couples or couples who are in the early stages of their wedding planning process. It is like a department store for wedding vendors. Everyone from local venues to bridal shops has booths and a lot of information to get you the right services for your big day.

What to Know Before You Go

With that in mind, these expos can be very overwhelming. It is helpful to go in with a budget and a solid list of “must-haves” and “could-live-without.” These shows are fun places to meander around to see all your options. Nailing down a budget will keep you on track while having fun going through the rows of wedding vendors. Go in with an open mind and a realistic budget. That way, you and your partner will have a great time.

Preparing for wedding expos can be overwhelming. Make sure to check back here next week for our top tips for attending wedding expo shows and learn how to make the most of your trip!

Wedding Venue Red Flag: Front loading

In the excitement of wedding planning, it is easy to be wooed by the shine of newer wedding venues. But, don’t get wrapped up too much in the fantasy of hosting your wedding at one of these locations just yet. Some of these places are hastily put developed and only in the business to try to get a quick buck. That’s why this month we’re counting down the biggest new wedding venue red flags that you should look out for.

What is front loading?

One of the worst red flags a new venue can have is front loading your reception. These locations drive the flow of the wedding and reception. A good venue knows the proper spacing for events. Front loading is when the venue tries to get you to do everything first, including the entrance, first dance, cake cutting, toasts, etc.

Why is front loading a red flag?

This is the exact opposite of what you want your reception to be set up like. Bad or inexperienced venues will try to get the bride and groom to have everything at the beginning of the night. This is so that staff can leave early. But that isn’t what’s best for you and your guest’s. The best layout is to space these events out before and after you have dinner. That way, no one is waiting through too many events before they get their food.

While they may look new, shiny, and perfect, many a newer wedding venue won’t know how to properly space out your reception and are looking for a quick buck. Keep your eye out for these red flags so that you don’t end up with lots of problems on your wedding day.

New Venue Red Flags: UnPrepared

Don’t get wrapped up too much in the fantasy of hosting your wedding at one of these newer wedding venues just yet. Some of these places are hastily put together residential properties. Their lack of experience can spell disaster for your big day. That’s why this month, we’re counting down the biggest new venue red flags that you should look out for.

Red Flag: Proper Power

When booking your venue, you want someone with loads of experience and who is properly prepared. This includes having the proper power. From your lights to your entertainment, many elements are running for hours at a time. Some new venues can not support that level of power necessary. This could cause delays in food, entertainment, or even worse, a total blackout.

Red Flag: Placement of Entertainment

The placement of your entertainment is crucial to the enjoyment of all of your guests. To an untrained wedding venue proprietor, the layout might not seem like that big a deal. Because of his, DJs wind up in a corner of the hall to blast music behind your guests. An experienced venue will know where to place entertainment for maximum efficiency and quality.

Red Flag: Awkward Layout

Commonly, some of these newer venues were once residential properties. This means the layout was not designed to host an event of great size. Think about your other vendors when booking a venue. Is the kitchen conducive to your dinner plans? How far is the kitchen from where everyone will be eating? Are there bathrooms that are easily accessible? You want your wedding to run as smoothly as possible, so make sure the layout won’t be a burden to your vendors or guests.

The set up of the venue is crucial to everything running smoothly. Newer venues might not have the facilities for all of your vendors to set up and tear down efficiently.

While they may look new, shiny, and perfect, many wedding venues are just not prepared to host an event of that magnitude and are looking for a quick buck. Keep your eye out for these red flags so that you don’t end up with lots of problems on your wedding day.

New Venue Red Flags: Sound Zoning

Nowadays, it seems like new wedding venues are popping up all the time with gorgeous views, large open layouts, and fantastic decor. But sometimes, this excitement can blind you to serious issues with the location. Don’t let the glitz and glamor of a new venue in your area lure you into signing a contract with an illegitimate business. This month, Wenning Entertainment is breaking down the top concerns you should know when booking newer wedding venues.

What Should You Look Out For?

While it’s easy to imagine you and your loved ones partying the night away at one of these newer venues, you might not be able to if they do not have the proper clearances. Newer venues sometimes start out as residential properties. Think those beautifully renovated barns everyone loves.

These are under residential zoning laws. If your venue has not filed its business as a commercially zoned property then you’ll need to worry about sound restrictions. If your venue isn’t zoned properly, be prepared to shut the party down earlier than you might have wanted.

What Should You Do?

This is not the fun part of wedding planning by far. But if you don’t want the celebrations shut down at 9 pm: you have to ask. You’re going to pay these people to host one of the most important events of your life — make as many inquiries as you can! If they are under residential zoning, it might be time for you to decide whether booking with a newer, sometimes cheaper venue is worth cutting the party short, or if you’d rather save the headache and go with a more established location.

To find out more about red flags you should look out for with new venues, check back in with us all month long!

Newer Wedding Venues Issues: Part 1

Finding a new wedding venue in your area can be exciting at first. You won’t be having your wedding at the same place everyone else you know did. You have an original place to call your own! However, although these places might look like the perfect spot for your big day, there are some traps you can fall into with these newer venues. That’s why this month, Wenning Entertainment is breaking down the top concerns you should keep in mind when booking newer wedding venues.

Insurance

While it is definitely not the most fun part of your wedding planning journey, having everything properly insured is one of the most important aspects of booking your wedding venue. The benefits of booking your wedding at an established venue are that they have been in the game long enough to have their own insurance plan in case things go sideways.

The issue with newer venues is that they might not have a set insurance plan for couples. This means that if you are booking with someone newer, they might charge you for the venue and then add an extra charge for you and your finance to cover the location and the guests.

This is a major red flag. This means that they do not have the proper insurance to cover this event. Due to their lack of insurance, they try to force the clients to buy an additional insurance policy to cover their lack of liability.

If you’ve never planned a wedding before, you might think this is the industry standard — IT’S NOT! If a venue is trying to get you to do this, look for a different venue.

Green Flags

A green flag to look out for with these newer wedding venues is if they have a standardized insurance plan included. This will ensure that your venue is properly covered and you won’t be paying a whole lot of extra money. If they recommend you get your own insurance, they might not be worth your money.

To find out more about red flags you should look out for with new venues, check back in with us all month long!

Always Have a Backup Plan

Your wedding day is packed full of things for you to worry about. From ensuring that you greet all of your guests to making time to eat, you’ll have a lot on your plate! The last thing you want is to add worrying about the reliability of your entertainment. That’s why Wenning Entertainment’s professionally trained DJs always come with a backup plan.

Prepare Your Backup Plan

What if something goes wrong with the speakers? What if the DJ has car trouble on the way to the venue? Everything should have a backup plan. If you have an outdoor wedding, you should have a rainy day location to switch to. The same is true for your entertainment. It’s life, things will happen. Whether your first DJ gets sick or a piece of equipment breaks, we have backups.

Cheaper Isn’t Always Better

We don’t leave anything to chance. Rest assured that if one DJ can’t make it, we have another professionally trained DJ ready to go whenever you need them. If you book your entertainment with a cheaper, smaller-time DJ service, they won’t have the backup plan guarantees that Wenning offers.

So, don’t rely on just one person for all of your entertainment needs on your wedding day. Wenning’s DJs: More Than Just a Playlist

There is a common misconception among couples that the only way to get engaging entertainment at your wedding is to have a band and a singer. Couples also make the mistake of thinking that a playlist or CD is just as good as trained, professional DJs. And your cousin who makes the best playlists on Spotify is not qualified to keep the energy up at your wedding! Here is how Wenning’s DJs go above and beyond what you can get with any of those.

The First Meeting

All of our DJs meet with you and your fiancee first to go over exactly what you want for your wedding day. We take into account everything from what you want to walk down the aisle to the last song of the night.

We know that everyone is going to have their own music taste so we come prepared with tried and tested crowd-pleasers and with your help, curate a list of “must play songs” and “do not play songs.” So you can have peace of mind on your big day knowing that we will not let anyone request that one song you hate at your reception.

On the Day

Unlike a CD or your fun cousin’s Spotify playlist, our DJs don’t just sit in a corner and hit buttons all night. Our DJs are trained to be able to read the energy of a room and customize the music and entertainment for each audience and couple. We know when to pump up the jams and when everyone looks like they need a slow dance.

How To Seat Your Guests

The seating placement for your reception is invaluable to your guests’ comfort and enjoyment. You must consider the age, health, and personalities of your guests. Do you think that your older loved ones are going to have a great time at dinner when they are placed right by the DJ booth? Of course not! If the seating chart is flawed, then no one will be having a good time. The following are Wenning Entertainment’s top tips for how to seat your guests.

Mind the Music

The right floor plan is crucial for making your reception a hit. Keep the DJ in the middle of the room, right next to the dance floor, and place the tables around both. If you put your DJ in a corner behind the tables, that will mean that some tables are getting blasted with music from the speakers that are right up on them.

Do not put any of the older guests by the speaker. Place the younger folks who can handle loud noise to the front by the DJ and speakers. They can take the noise better and will have a better appreciation for the music. A lot of times, where you put your DJ determines exactly how much space you must maneuver your guest seats — and there could be only one way you can line those up. No one wants to be up close to speakers at a wedding but if it must be someone, make it the younger guests.

Access to the Dance Floor

In the same vein as the music, position your younger guests closer to the dance floor. This way, you won’t be annoying your older guests with people rushing past them to dance and your younger guests get easy access to the party!

Make sure to be thoughtful when deciding how to seat your guests. Be sure to check back every week to keep up to date on the latest wedding trends with Wenning Entertainment. And for more wedding inspiration and tips, follow us on social media!

Recent Wedding Changes

The past two years have been crazy, to say the least. The pandemic changed every aspect of our lives. Weddings are no exception. But there is brightness at the end of this tunnel! The US is officially no longer in the “pandemic” stage of COVID-19. This means more gatherings and events just in time for the warm weather. However, even though the pandemic is technically over, this year’s weddings will look different than pre-pandemic weddings. So here are some recent wedding changes you should know about!

Etiquette Changes

Etiquette rules have loosened. After two years of mandated social distancing and capacity limits, people want to get together and celebrate with their loved ones in whatever ways they can. So they are less concerned with adhering to traditional wedding etiquette. Buffet or even family-style services have replaced sit-down dinners. Dress codes also aren’t as common anymore. The philosophy of this year’s wedding trends seems to be: come as you are and have a great time.

Multi-Day Weddings and Elopements

There is a rise in couples having their wedding day cut in half. They have one day for those who are older or immunocompromised and one for everyone else. In some cases, everyone comes to the ceremony with a light reception to follow. The next day, there is a big party for everyone else!

And if you’ve always dreamed of a cool destination wedding, a multi-day wedding might be perfect for you. “Eloping” to the Bahamas for the ceremony and then returning for a big reception in your hometown will give you the best of both worlds!

Experiential Wedding Registries

Couples move in together before they get married. So, odds are, they already have the housewares traditionally gifted at weddings. Couples are now opting for guests to contribute to experience funds, like the honeymoon. After two years of limited travel, couples are excited to get up and go!

Be sure to check back every week to keep up to date on the latest wedding trends with Wenning Entertainment.

How to Get Married in Pittsburgh

If you know anything about Pittsburgh, you know just how unpredictable it is. From the weather to construction sites popping up overnight, this city keeps you on your toes. These external circumstances make your job of planning your dream wedding that much more difficult. So here is our handy guide on how to get married in Pittsburgh without a hitch!

Be Weather Aware

Now, this one might sound like common sense, but if you’re from Pittsburgh, you know you have to be extra mindful of the weather.

It rains more than it shines here in Pittsburgh, so whether your wedding is indoors or you are one of the brave souls hosting their wedding outside, the key to your success is to stay weather aware. Pro tip: the best month of the year to get married is in Pittsburgh in September! Perfectly temperate, before all the leaves fall and the cold weather hits.

Travel Planning

Mind the 4 seasons of Pittsburgh: Winter, winter, winter, and construction. If the weather is nice enough for an outdoor wedding, there will be construction somewhere in the city. Make sure you know where that is and alert your guests. You don’t want all of your guests arriving 30 minutes late to the ceremony because the Plan A AND Plan B routes are both closed.

Event Traffic

There is always something going on in Pittsburgh, especially in the summertime. If you want an intimate and quiet ceremony, maybe that hotel ballroom overlooking PNC park is not the best place for you. Look at sports calendars, concert dates, and extensive plans for the date you want to set. If there is a concert in Uptown, a football game on the North Shore, and a Food Festival on the South Side, you might want to choose a different day.

Pittsburgh is really a beautiful city filled with tons of amazing venues to choose from. So, if you are planning a Pittsburgh wedding, make sure to stay weather and traffic-aware and save this how to guide for reference!

Top 5 Unique Honeymoon Destinations

Are you tired of hearing about the same old location recommendations when researching where to go for your honeymoon? So are we! That’s why this week, we have compiled our top 5 unique honeymoon destinations for every price point.

A Unique Honeymoon

Key Largo, Florida

If you want the white sand beaches and clear water of Key West a little farther north (and a little cheaper) head to Key Largo Florida. Whether you want to relax on the beach or head off to adventures like touring mangroves or trying your hand at stand-up paddle boarding, Key largo has everything you need for cheaper than a Caribbean excursion.

Willamette Valley, Oregon

I know what you’re thinking; Oregon…really? While Napa Valley and Sonoma are the most common wine regions to jump to, Willamette Valley has some of the best wine in the country with fewer crowds. Take a tour of Oregon’s highest producing vineyards, bike ride through the gorgeous scenery, or go to an open-air wine tasting.

Adventurous

Havana Cuba

Visiting Havana is like taking a trip back in time. Recently opened to tourism again, this city is a destination that will get more popular as time goes on. While other couples are overcrowding the Bahamas, take advantage of the beautiful beaches and rich history of the city.

Croatia

The basic, and more expensive, recommendation you get when looking into Mediterranean honeymoons is usually Italy or Greece. While they are beautiful, Croatia is one of those gorgeous European countries left largely untapped by the American tourism market. From 5-star seaside resorts in Lošinj to Rivera style luxury in Rovinj, Croatia truly has

Unforgettable

New Zealand

The long flight is worth it when it comes to this honeymoon destination. Go dolphin watching, hike glaciers, and enjoy luxury accommodations at New Zealand’s best 5-star hotels and resorts. If you are looking to ball out on the best trip of your life, New Zealand is the place to go.

Trending Wedding Dress Styles

Spring is here and, thank goodness, summer is fast approaching! If you’re getting married in the coming months, there are some dress trends that you just have to know about before you begin your hunt. Read carefully because the top wedding dress styles this year might not be what you expected. It looks like these new trends are not going anywhere anytime soon.

New and Improved Silhouettes and Cuts

We all have an idea about what kind of wedding dress we’d like to have for our big day. Most millennials getting married were probably heavily influenced by the cultural phenomenon that was the Say Yes To The Dress franchise. If you know what I’m talking about, then you know exactly the kind of dress that is falling out of fashion.

Sweetheart necklines are out, fit and flare mermaid silhouettes are dated, and ruching is so 2012. Brides in 2022 are saying goodbye to the 2010 and hello to … the 1800?

Out With the Old and In With the Classics

Currently, there is a new show capturing the imaginations of brides to be everywhere: Bridgerton. Netflix’s hit show brought classical dress styles to the forefront this year, and brides have noticed. Now the most popular wedding Pinterest boards have square necklines, corseted bodices, and voluminous skirts. Elegant silks are replacing tule, and empire waistlines are replacing drop waists.

Brides are putting a modern spin on looks that have been out of style for centuries. While in the recent past, brides had set their sights on sexy and blinged-out dresses, current trend forecasts are pointing to a return to a more romantic and elegant aesthetic. So get ahead of the trends by embracing these new and revamped wedding dress styles.

Fresh Wedding Decor for Spring

Deciding on your fresh wedding decor is one of the most fun parts of planning your wedding. From utilizing interesting materials in new fun ways to incorporating your favorite Netflix show — there are endless ways to freshen up your decor this spring.

Mirrors Everywhere

Make the spring sunlight an active part of your ceremony and reception. When we think of spring we have visions of open, light, and airy places. Not every venue is like this though. To brighten up your space and make it appear larger, incorporate mirrors into your decor. Write your seating chart on a mirror for your entryway. Mirrored centerpieces are also a great way of subtly incorporating this trend into your wedding.

If you happened to get lucky and found a venue with huge windows everywhere that bring in lots of sunlight, bring on the mirrors to enhance the general beauty of your space even further!

Fresh Flowers

We loved the trend of using dried flowers in this years cooler months, but if you’re anything like us, you’re ready for a fresher look. Spring is the perfect time to hit up your local florist or nursery to put together fresh floral arrangements. To add extra spring into your flowers, feature pastels in your arrangements.

Bridgerton Inspiration

Netflix’s hit show Bridgerton has swept the nation with its second season. The show’s opulent and romantic visuals have greatly influenced couples this spring with new and fresh wedding ideas. In recent years, minimalism has ruled, but now maximalism is taking over the wedding market. Couples are straying from paired down receptions and are going all out now with lavish flower displays and romantic bridal party attire.

If you’re looking for ways to freshen up your spring wedding, check back here next week as we’re featuring spring wedding inspiration all season!

Top 3 Spring Wedding Trends

Spring is in full swing! With it have come new spring wedding trends which all follow the theme of keeping your wedding intimate and affordable.

“Unplug” Your Ceremony

We’ve all seen those “No Phones During the Ceremony” signs. People are getting tired of steaming weddings as we did in 2020 and 2021. Now, couples are leaning into the idea of “unplugging” for their big day and continuing that rule throughout the reception too!

These couples are leaving the memory-keeping duties to the professionals and hiring photographers and videographers. However, if your guests just have to take pictures, try offering a basket of disposable cameras. That way, everyone can capture those special moments while staying off their phones.

Weekday Weddings

Since the pandemic began, booking vendors and venues have been a nightmare. Couples are catching on to the fact that this won’t change anytime soon. And so the trend of weekday weddings has been born.

Before the pandemic, it was rare to have a wedding on anything but a weekend. Now, couples are getting wise to the fact that prices will be cheaper on weekdays and there will be more available to choose from. So, if you are looking to save some money or set a date sooner rather than later, look to book on weekdays!

Small Spring Weddings

Another trend that has caught steam since the pandemic is smaller-scale weddings. This first caught on during the capacity restrictions of 2020 and 2021. Couples have been taken with the idea of having a more intimate environment to get married with only their closest loved ones. This will make your wedding feel even more special, and you don’t have to waste $75 a plate on every extended relative that just “has to be there.”

Stay on trend this spring and unplug your small, weekday wedding! Keep up to date on all of the latest wedding trends by following Wenning Entertainment on:

Spring Has Sprung!

Spring has sprung! Dust off the dark colors and themes of winter and embrace the season with a bright and clean color pallet. At Wenning Entertainment, we love the colors and decor that come with spring. Pastel purples, pinks, and blues will offer a fresh atmosphere to your wedding.

Dresses and Suits

One of the places you can have the most fun in switching up the colors is in your bridal party’s attire. There is no rule that all groomsmen’s suits have to be black or navy! Breathe some life into your wedding by adding a pastel color pallet to their attire. Colorful suits were all the rage last year and there is no sign of the trend fizzling out this year. Think pale blue jackets, pastel pink sets, or, if you don’t want to commit to a whole colorful suit, switch up tie colors.

Spring Flowers and Decor

There is no better time than spring to have a fresh flower display for your wedding. We have seen stunning displays of fresh flower arrangements from decked-out alters to boutonnieres for the men. And make sure to source your flowers from your local nursery for a more special touch. Dried flowers were a great option for the colder months of winter but now, take advantage of the fact that all of your favorites are in full bloom! Then to accompany your beautiful flower display, create fresh decor! No matter what your venue or reception space is, the atmosphere will be enhanced when the rest of your decor plays off of the colors in the flowers.

Now is the perfect time to experiment with colors, pick fresh flowers, and freshen up your decor. Spring is a time for rebirth and new beginnings, so make sure your special day reflects that.
