Cozy Accents For Fall Weddings

Some of the best parts about having a fall wedding are all of the cozy accents that you can feature! This is the perfect season to get creative with your wedding decor. Any small detail can make a big difference in the overall experience of your wedding.

For example, you can change the whole mood of a space by shifting the lighting. Set the mood for your guests right when they arrive by incorporating lanterns! These pieces can be added to your entryway or aisle decorations and even your reception space. The lanterns will give off a softer and warmer light than the traditional glare of overhead lighting. This will make your event space feel cozier and more romantic; perfect for autumn.

And to keep your wedding nice and cozy, try adding textured accents like velvets, knits, or leather to the bridal party attire and decor. Put your own spin on your bridal party attire with velvet suits for the groomsmen or knit shawls for the bridesmaids. And try leather accents in place settings, invitations, or even wrapped around flower arrangements. These seasonal fabrics will give your overall wedding that extra warm touch.

Finally, add warmth to your reception through the menu! Substitute that traditional chicken or fish meal for any of your fall favorites. Soups, chili, stuffed peppers, and more are all great additions to your wedding menu. And if comfort food isn’t for you, put a twist on classic favorites like pumpkin pasta or sweet potato stuffed shells.

Take a hint from the season and make your wedding the coziest it can be!

Our Favorite Fall Wedding Trends

Happy first day of Autumn! Brace yourself for hayrides, cozy bonfires, and of course, pumpkin-spiced everything. And everything definitely includes wedding decor. Everyone has a different style, and you want to make sure that your fall wedding reflects that! If squash and hay bales aren’t your style, we’ve got you covered with some classier ideas for incorporating Autumn into your big day.

Try A Rustic Theme

If you have been loving rustic wedding pictures on Pinterest, fall is the season for you! Because of the cool weather and earthy tones, fall is the best time to have a “Rustic Wedding.” Rustic trends like wooden or burlap accents for things like seating cards or place settings will look right at home in the oranges and reds of fall.

Go For Gold

Metallic accents are great to add that extra shimmer to your wedding. For fall weddings, go for gold! Choosing gold accents over silver ones will create a warmer kind of glamor. So get creative with your gold accents. Gold tones can pop up in any metal feature like your place settings, centerpieces, or even in the rings! This classic metallic will be sure to fit the feel of the season.

Have Your Fall Wedding Feature Foliage

Finally, if you’re really looking for a way to add those fall colors to your wedding, opt for foliage in place of flowers. Try adorning the aisle, altar, and reception space with fall foliage instead of a traditional fresh flower display. Pro-tip: this will be more cost-effective than fresh flowers too! The Autumn leaves can be subtly incorporated into bouquets, boutonnieres, and more, so get creative!

Add A Hint Of Fall To Your Big Day

It’s always a good idea to consider the season when choosing the decor for your wedding. But, not everyone is a pumpkin spice fiend.  Stores and websites are over run with loud and bright fall decorations that end up looking like a kids arts and crafts project.  If you aren’t into heavy themes, there are lots of ways to add a hint of fall into your special day.

Dried Flowers

Our first idea is to consider switching out fresh flowers for dried flowers. A bonus to being on trend for the season is that on average, dried flowers are more affordable than fresh ones. Their matte finish and earthy tones will add a subtly fall look to your bouquets and centerpieces. Also, scattering red, orange, and yellow leaves down the aisle instead of flower petals will create the same effect.

Fall Treats

Then, if cake isn’t your thing, fall is a great time to introduce some variety to your dessert table. Sweet fall treats like pies, tarts, or caramel apples will add a taste of the season to your menu. By including a different array of deserts you give inclusive options for those who aren’t big cake people and bring the taste of fall to your reception.

Also, consider adding a fall-themed signature drink like hot apple cider during cocktail hour. And for the more adventurous types, add moonshine! These drinks will capture the cozy spirit of fall in a fun and classy way.

Not everything has to be pumpkin spiced for it to be autumnal. When thinking about how to add a hint of fall to your wedding think small and think food

Incorporate a Daycare Room In Your Wedding

One of the most controversial things to decide when planning your wedding is if kids are invited. While they are loved ones and are very cute to be added into the ceremony as flower girls or ring bearers, they are also unpredictable. A lot of adults have good reasons to not want to bring children to a wedding. But, if you decide to open the invitation to kids, consider having a daycare room!

What Is A Daycare Room?

One wedding we were just at this weekend had a room inside the hotel venue specifically for daycare services. This was perfect for the parents that could not get babysitters in time for the wedding. They brought their kids and were still able to enjoy the fun like adults. This would also be a great place to keep the kids involved in the wedding entertained. The flower girl and the ring bearer will have a fun place to run around with other kids their age!

Keep Kids Entertained and Give Parents Freedom

This trend is a perfect way to ensure that everyone, from parents to kids, enjoys themselves. Inviting kids to a wedding is a hard sell for some. They get bored and run amok, being loud and possibly even damaging things. Having an escape from constantly having to watch them is something that most parents would kill for. Having a daycare room will put parents’ minds at ease. They will know that their children won’t be running around, getting into trouble, or getting hurt. So, a fantastic idea for your wedding if you invite kids is to have a daycare room.

A Wedding Bill: What Do You Think?

After working in the wedding business for almost 30 years, our resident wedding expert Eric Wenning thought he would have seen it all. However, what this newlywed couple did was definitely a new one he had never seen before. These clients actually billed their guests for their dinner because they did not show up to the wedding. We want to know your thoughts on this wedding bill but first, a little context.

The Situation

This bill was sent to two no-show wedding guests after they confirmed through RSVP. But on the actual day of the wedding, they never showed up. Weddings can add up fast, especially for those couples who are paying for everything primarily on their own, this was a blow. This particular bride and groom were stuck with an extra $240 bill.

What Should You Do If You Can’t Make It?

If you have never been married or been a part of wedding planning before, you might not realize just how much the price per guest is. Most weddings can cost anywhere between $100 – $200 per person. So if you as a guest are just giving a $50 Amazon gift card as a wedding present to the one you didn’t show up to, that’s a little cheap and tacky.

So think about that difference when you are gift-giving. If you have to do a no-show, always remember: be polite, be courteous, and send more money to cover the bride and groom’s expenses.  Remember, they wanted you there on their special day.  Keep the gravity of that decision in mind when choosing your wedding gift if you can not make it.

Do you think that charging people for a no-show is warranted, or do you think it’s a little tacky? Let us know what you think!
